Breaking summary

Bookings fell for a third straight quarter, manufacturing revenue dropped 8.9%, and management guided next quarter flat-to-down. Wipro's demand picture looks weaker than TCS and HCLTech, which saw steadier financial-services momentum.

What happened

Wipro reported June-quarter revenue of 244.79 billion rupees (about $2.54 billion), up 10.6% year-over-year but short of the 247.76 billion rupee consensus. Strip out currency tailwinds and constant-currency revenue rose just 0.9%. Manufacturing revenue fell 8.9% and a key Americas unit covering banking and manufacturing in the US, Latin America, and Canada dropped 7.3%. Net profit also missed forecasts. Total deal wins came in at $3.37 billion, down from $3.5 billion last quarter and $5 billion a year earlier. For the September quarter, management guided revenue to a range of -1.5% to +0.5% sequentially (about $2.57 billion to $2.63 billion in absolute terms).

What to watch

  • Next-quarter bookings - if deal wins stay below $3.5 billion, the revenue pipeline thins further and analysts may cut forward estimates.

  • Manufacturing segment stabilization - three consecutive quarters of weakness suggest clients are still deferring non-essential tech spend in that vertical.

  • Peer results comparison - TCS and HCLTech saw stronger financial-services momentum; watch whether Wipro can close that gap or falls further behind.

Also Worth Watching

Accenture competes head-to-head with Indian IT firms for the same digital transformation and cloud migration budgets. When clients defer tech projects and Wipro's bookings slide for three quarters running, that weakness often shows up in Accenture's next print - especially in consulting revenue from manufacturing and mid-market accounts.
